App Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data the MARQ Indore app ("MARQ", "we", "us") collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to the MARQ app on Android and iOS and to your MARQ account when you use it on our website.

1. Data we collect

Information you give us

• Account details: your name, mobile number and, if you choose, email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash).
• Optional profile details: date of birth, anniversary, gender, city, address and music preferences, used to personalise offers and celebrate special occasions.
• Bookings and purchases: table reservations, entry passes, guest names and numbers you book for, table orders, bills, MARQ Card balance and transactions, membership tier and offers you redeem.
• Photos you add: reference photos for My Photos (see section 2) and any photos you upload.
• Messages to us: anything you send through support or contact forms.

Information collected automatically

• Device and app data: a push-notification token, device platform (Android or iOS) and app version, so we can send notifications and deliver app updates.
• Sign-in and security data: one-time-code requests and sign-in events, used to protect your account against misuse.

Payments

Payments are processed by Razorpay. Your card, UPI or bank details are entered with Razorpay and are never stored by MARQ. We receive only the payment reference, amount and status.

2. My Photos & face matching (optional)

Our photographers capture club nights. My Photos lets you see only the event photos you appear in. It is entirely optional and works only after you give explicit consent in the app.

• What we collect: the reference photo(s) you add (a selfie, or a photo of a person you came with) and a mathematical face template created from them. This is biometric data.
• How it works: the face template is compared with faces in MARQ event photos using Amazon Rekognition, operated by Amazon Web Services on our behalf. Matching photos appear in your My Photos.
• What we never do: we never sell face data, use it for advertising, use it to identify you anywhere other than MARQ event photos, or share it with anyone except the service provider that performs the matching.
• Adding other people: only add someone else's photo if they have agreed to it.
• Removing it: you can remove a person from My Photos at any time. This permanently deletes their reference photos and face templates. Deleting your account removes all of them.

3. App permissions

Every permission is optional and can be turned off in your phone's settings. Only the related feature stops working.

4. How we use your data

• To create and secure your account and sign you in with one-time codes.
• To take bookings, sell entry passes, process table orders and payments, and check you in at the venue.
• To run your membership, MARQ Card and offers.
• To send confirmations and service messages by app notification, WhatsApp, SMS or email.
• To send event and offer announcements, only where you have allowed them (you can switch these off in Profile → Notifications).
• To show you your photos through My Photos, if you opt in.
• To prevent fraud and misuse, and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that operate the app for us, under contracts that limit their use of it, and with authorities when the law requires it.

Some providers process data outside India. When they do, it is protected by their security commitments and contractual safeguards.

6. How long we keep it

• Account and profile data: for as long as your account is active.
• Face templates and reference photos: until you remove the person from My Photos or delete your account.
• One-time codes: expire within minutes and are not reused.
• Bookings, bills and payment records: kept for the period required by Indian tax and accounting law, even after account deletion. They are no longer linked to your profile.

7. Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, photos are kept in private storage, and admin access is protected by role-based permissions and audit logs, with two-factor authentication available to staff. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the authorities of a breach as the law requires.

8. Your choices & rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:

• See and correct your details in the app (Profile → Edit Profile).
• Withdraw consent: switch off marketing notifications, or remove people from My Photos at any time.
• Ask for a summary of the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or erase it.
• Raise a grievance with us (see Contact us) and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

9. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time:

• In the app: Profile → Delete account.
• On the web: sign in at our account page and choose "Delete my account".
• By email: write to us from your registered email, or include your registered mobile number, and we will delete it within 30 days.

Deletion permanently removes your profile, face templates and reference photos, your own uploads, push tokens and notification history. Booking and payment records that we must keep by law are retained but no longer linked to you.

10. Age requirement

MARQ is a nightlife venue. The app is intended only for adults aged 18 and over, and alcohol is served only to guests of the legal drinking age. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app before they take effect.
